Junior Marksmanship and Safety
Rifle Marksmanship
and
Safety Training for Juniors
Palmetto State Marksmen Association
Learn real, precision marksmanship skills and put them to use.
Remember the famous line from the movie, The Patriot? “Aim small, miss small.” That is our goal. We shoot at small targets with actual target rifles. We don’t shoot at big targets up close. We don’t shoot off bags or bipods after the initial Five (5) Fundamentals training. You will learn how to shoot safely using iron (peep) sights and a sling, holding the rifle in your own two hands in prone, sitting/kneeling and the standing positions. Learning to shoot like this will enable you to shoot any firearm with greater skill and competence while you are safer doing it.
Here is more good news. The training is free. We have all the rifles, equipment and ammunition at no cost to you. If you want to achieve awards from the National Rifle Association the cost of each award is $5.00.
We use Anschutz, Kimber, and Remington Smallbore Rifles. We use Walther and Feinwerkbau Precision Air Rifles of the types used in collegiate and Olympic competition. Juniors can progress into the Service Rifle discipline using our AR-15 platforms and transition into glass optics if they wish.
The minimum age for training is 12 years old for Smallbore and Air Rifle training and 14 years old for Service Rifle. Both are open to girls and boys.
